How IGCSE marks are awarded

IGCSE mark schemes mix method marks (M), accuracy marks (A) and independent marks (B). Many short questions are worth a single B mark for the right answer, but on longer questions most of the marks are for working: a wrong final answer can still collect M marks when the method is visible.

Method reads your working line by line and awards those marks where the scheme would, including follow-through (ft) marks when you carry an earlier mistake forward correctly.

Reading a paper code

0580/42 means syllabus 0580, Paper 4, variant 2. Cambridge sets different variants of the same paper for different time zones, so check the variant as well as the paper number when you look for a mark scheme. In Method you can type the code straight into the search.

How to practise IGCSE Maths with Method
